I want to be happy. I even think I deserve the right to be happy, in whatever way suits me best. So I do what I love doing and I want to motivate you to do the same. So all of us can be happy. Wouldn’t that create a great world to live in?
But as it turns out, those pursuing happiness aren’t all that happy. This article suggests that by looking for happiness, you really become an unhappier person.
Long story short: trying to be happy makes you compare present to past. Comparing makes you think about what you’re doing. Thinking about what you’re doing takes your mind off having fun doing whatever you’re doing. This way a flow state cannot be reached, as being in a flow state is something you can’t indicate while it’s going on.
