With winter on it’s way I already miss the summer season. Although I own a cool snowboard I prefer the hot dusty bike trails in summer. So when the days get shorter I’m looking through last season’s pictures I took and I want to share this one with you.
Pictures like these motivate me to get on my bike when temperatures are about to drop to minus zero degrees. And it makes me want to plan the trips for the upcoming year.
A little bit about this picture. As you may have noticed I’m a big fan of Lake Garda’s bike trails. And my work as a photographer allows me to visit this area several times each year. In this book (no affiliate link) I own there’s a section about a secret spot which is used by photographers for pictures in famous magazines.
After I bought the book I wanted to find this secret spot so on one of the last days of the season me and Lindy grabbed our bikes and went of for a ride.
“Exploring new trails makes the experience even better”
I don’t want to disappoint you, but the trail wasn’t too hard to find. And one thing has to be said: it’s perfect to shoot your images and to find a place which is separated from all the other bikers in the area. The view on the Lake with Monte Baldo at the back is great. You’ll find a few single trails as well. The trail from the pictures is just about 60 meters in length so no long bike ride or serious technical downhill. There’s almost no sound, although you can hear the bikers who come down from the Tremalzo and continue their ride to the Ponale. And don’t forget to bring something to eat so you can enjoy the view just a little longer.
But hey, this picture makes me want to go back, just because I know how good the other trails are. And the fact I had to explore this area, search for the spot and hike for a while this picture has it all.
So I would say hello to the next bike season while riding on my indoor trainer with this picture on my laptop in front of me. Or should I go for a freezing bike ride?
