Cassis Bike Trails

Cassis Trails

During one of our European roadtrips we’ve planned a visit to Marseille. I was there once a few years ago and wanted to visit the town again. When we arrived we decided to leave inmedialetly. It was smelly, overcrowded, strange types and lots of cargasses. Not what we like, so we moved on to Cassis, a small town nearby Marseille.

Cassis is a little touristic village with a great oceanview. After we’ve parked our campervan the search for the trails begun. People told us that it was forbidden to leave the marked footpaths. And it was not allowed to take your bike on the footpaths as well. Well, no mountainbiking here…… Or?
We decided to take our bikes and investigate the area by ourselves. Our moto: if there’s no sign which says that bikes are not allowed, bikes are allowed!

While riding the area we get the idea that the story about not biking was told to protect the area against tourism. The trails we found were definaletly build by people! We found curves with a superflow, some jumps, singletracks etc. More enough trails for a few days of good mountainbiking and enduro riding!
The days after we saw enough locals riding the trails, most of all X-Country riders, but our Enduro bikes where a better choice for that terrain.

There where some changes in altitude, lots of flow and enough challenge to upgrade your downhill skills. Don’t expect a marked network of trails, you have to find it for yourselves. But hé, we did it, so can you!

Our highlights:
- if you don’t like overcrowded trails, Cassis is the place to be!
- the trails are suitable for every level
- the town is small, touristic but lot’s of fun
